We start first with the procurement of our rubies. Most of our rubies are sourced in the gemstone cutting center of Chanthaburi Thailand. Chanthaburi was the area that most of the ruby mines were found in Thailand. The mines are no longer producing but the cutting center is still remains. We are able to find gems that were mined in Africa, Vietnam and Myanmar. Chanthaburi, which is a three hour drive southeast of Bangkok on the Cambodian border, produces the largest assortment of colored gemstones and is still the largest cutting center in the world.
Our rubies are purchased after selection for vibrancy and depth of color. We also look at the cut to make sure that the ruby will set nicely in the finished bracelet. Our ruby bracelets typically will feature round or oval cut rubies but some styles will have pear shape or emerald cut stones.
Once our rubies are negotiated, we ship the rubies to our office where our design staff will begin to work on the setting. After our approval of the design we pick the accent diamonds that will be set to complement the rubies. These diamonds, like our rubies, are sourced overseas, mostly in Mumbai, India.
18kt gold, 14kt gold and platinum are the choices of precious metal in which the ruby bracelet may be cast. Our stores display ruby line bracelets, ruby bangle bracelets and ruby fashion bracelets.
