When PANDORA was founded in 1982, the first piece of jewelry made was a pair of earrings! The earliest known earring styles date back to 2500 BCE and are now the second largest jewelry category by value in the world. With over 130 earring styles, PANDORA has put their name at the front of the industry, and people are taking notice. Earrings are the ideal gift, because a gift giver never has to know the recipient’s size like they would for a ring or bracelet. PANDORA makes 3 styles of earrings; stud, drop and hoop. Stud earrings are held in the ear by a pin and is secured by a friction butterfly back. Depending on the design, they can sit in the middle of the earlobe, can fall slightly below or climb up the earlobe. Studs are the simplest style and flatter almost any face shape. Drop earrings fall below the earlobe and are partly made up by a dangle ornament that can vary in length. Drop earrings flatter oval and round face shapes the most. Hoop earrings are shaped into a full or half circle. Full circle hoops are hinged so that the post that enters the ear is met with the back half of the circle to secure the earring. Half circle hoops have a friction butterfly back to secure the jewelry. Hoops are best suited for a square shaped face. PANDORA’s quality in craftsmanship continues into their earrings by using genuine precious metals, colorful enamel, and natural and synthetic stones that are shaped into a dozen different types of shapes and cuts. Many of PANDORA’s earring styles also have coordinating and matching rings, charms, bracelets and necklaces.
